About Me
I was 18 when I saw the Angel Glacier for the first time. Since then, I've fallen in love with everything to do with cold environments and cant imagine doing anything else!
My PhD investigated the extent and dynamics of paleo(past)-glaciation in Scotland during a period of abrupt climate change (Younger Dryas; ~12.9 -11.7 ka BP). Post-PhD life involved working on Greenlandic tidewater glacier behaviour over the last millennium.
I joined the University of Hertfordshire in 2018 as the Head of Academic Support for the Faculty which involved managing a small team to support ~3500 students. During this time I started to research the Greenlandic Norse and investigating benthic habitat response to rapidly changing environmental conditions. In 2021, I moved to Norway (NMBU), where I continue my work on the Greenland Ice Sheet but I am also interested in the behaviour of the peripheral mountain glaciers. Since 2021 I have been working in Svalbard investigating surging glacier dynamics.
